Describes the ability to tolerate unpleasant feelings or stressful situations. Typically we discuss this in terms of Low Frustration Tolerance (LFT) in dogs whose behaviors are derived from avoiding frustrating events which, paradoxically, lead to increased frustration and increased stress. Frustration Tolerance is a skill best learned early on, along with Impulse Control. When dogs are too invested in instant gratification, and are unwilling to work through problems to access rewards, training becomes difficult.
